WELCOME TO CLAPHAM PARISH CHURCH
This is the website of Clapham Parish Church, an Anglican church in the heart of the the village of Clapham, near Bedford. The church is also known as St Thomas a Beckett. We hope you find what you are looking for among these pages!
LEARN ABOUT FAITH
Faith is often described as a ‘journey’. This is a good analogy! In the Christian faith you may be at any of these stages:
not sure if you want to begin at all – full of doubts and apprehensions, but worried that you might miss out if you don’t try the journey for yourself
A beginner – a ‘learner driver’ – excited by the prospects of your new found faith but lacking knowledge and experience
An experienced traveller with lots of insights to share with those just starting out – but still willing to learn from others on the journey – even the newcomers!
Disillusioned, having started the journey but made some wrong turns and feeling it will be hard to get on the right road again.
At Clapham we welcome all of the above! If you’re new, unsure or ‘returning’ to faith, why not come along to one of our friendly Alpha courses? You will enjoy a meal, a talk and meet others with whom you can discuss your thoughts and questions.
For more established Christians we have a number of homegroups, meeting regularly to study the bible and pray. It’s a great way to make friends and also give and receive support and encouragement.
OUR CHURCH COMMUNITY
Who We Are
We aim to be a friendly welcoming church open to people of all ages and backgrounds.
What kind of church are we?
We are an Anglican church which means we are part of the Church of England and the worldwide Anglican Communion.
We are an Evangelical church which means that we take God’s Word, the Bible, as our supreme authority in all that we do and believe and that we place a top priority on proclaiming the Good News about Jesus.
We are a Parish Church which means we have a special responsibility and care for the people who live within our parish boundaries, as well as being involved in God’s work in the surrounding area, the Diocese, and indeed, the world.
